Route to Russell

If you are coming from Auckland there are a variety of ways to reach Russell.

1. Land
2. Air
3. Sea

Most visitors are likely to come by land and you may wish to catch a bus or drive yourself.

The easiest and direct route to Russell, is to drive to Opua and catch the Opua Car Ferry.

Alternatively, you can drive the coastal road to Russell, but this is a long and winding road. Make sure you enter your destination into your GPS/In-car navigation system as Opua Ferry Terminal. The car ferry ride is about a 10 minutes and once you land on the other side, enter your destination as Russell. It's only around 10 minutes to Russell from here.

From Auckland, you can fly to Whangarei or Keri Keri, bus to Paihia and then catch the passenger ferry across to Russell.

If you wish to go by sea, you may be lucky enough to own a boat or hitch a lift with a friend. Alternatively you can charter a boat to Russell.
